Also, once its connected to the mobile does it cost to text tweets to twitter and does it have to connect to the internet?

Hi, Can you specify which country you are from and which mobile phone company you are using..?
Because.. from my personal experience, some phone companies do not support twitter’s short code.. and is your mobile phone verified..?

I am using the wordpress plugin Twitter Tools by Alex King, and was wondering if there is a way to change the name of the ‘device’ or ‘agent’? (if thats the right word) from where the tweet originated. I tried to change some things in the PHP but couldn’t get it to work.

I am trying to change it from this:

To something like this:
28 minutes ago from CUSTOM NAME HERE

I keep seeing news about bad things happening to athletes because of their "tweets" on twitter. I believe that the risks of twitter far any possible benefits. I think the use of twitter should be banned from professional sports in the United States. Thoughts?

I agree. The fact that social networking sites seem to be spilling into professional sports now is pathetic. The fact that players seem to want to use them while playing, is even more pathetic. I think players should only be allowed to use Twitter if it is for a good cause such as charity, or in the offseason. Shaq is one example of a guy that has used Twitter appropriately as he isn’t in the middle of a basketball game with a blackberry in his hand. NFL players seem to think that they can do what they want. The commissioner needs to step in, it’s that simple.

I want to use twitter to stay on top of local sales and specials. Any recommendations?

I don’t get the whole Twitter fad. Who cares about the minuscule details of a random person’s life? Why do people care so much on Twitter, yet no one cares about anyone in their own neighborhoods and communities anymore. Everyone just walks around with their noses in their iphones and don’t even bother to look up and say "hi" to people they know.

I have no idea … and the last part with saying "hi" … it doesn’t seem right or fair to me … i mean … it seems like their lives are revolving around the internet -virtual world - … and … that’s not right … at least not in my point of view.
So … I don’t give a tweet about twitter!

Twitter is an incredibly lame site where, if you are a Twitter whore, you update your fake status every second, or whenever you do something else, like taking a different breathe than the one a second ago. There is absolutely no purpose to the site. It is stupid.

It also has nothing to do with Languages. Though it does have something to do with Society and Culture, because it takes away from peoples’ social lives.

Do I just sent them as txt? Do I have to turn in on first? No, I don’t mean the phone, I mean do I have to txt ON to twitter first, then send the messages? Are there any instructions on Twitter for this. I have the web on my phone do you think I could just log into twitter from my phone? That would be easier.

Yes, you can send as a text. First go to your Twitter account and go to "devices" under "settings" and type in your number and save. They will give you a code that you have to send as a text to the number they provide depending where you live:

In the US, use 40404.
In Canada, use 21212.
In India, use 5566511.
Anywhere else, use +44 7624 801423

Once it’s confirmed you can start updating Twitter by texting it to one of the numbers above.

But of course there’s an easier way if you have the web on your phone. Just go to m.twitter.com and update that way!
